Pharmacology

Pharmacology

The Department of Pharmacology plays a vital role in bridging the gap between basic sciences and clinical practice. It provides undergraduate students with a thorough understanding of drug actions, interactions, mechanisms, and therapeutic uses. The department is equipped with well-established laboratories for experimental pharmacology, clinical pharmacology, and pharmacy practicals. Emphasis is placed on rational prescribing, safe medication practices, and the ethical aspects of drug use. Interactive teaching methods, demonstrations, and case-based discussions prepare students to apply pharmacological principles effectively in real-world clinical settings.

Department Facilities

  • Facility 1

    Clinical Pharmacology Lab

The Clinical Pharmacology Laboratory is designed to provide undergraduate students with practical exposure to the principles of rational drug use and prescription writing. It is equipped with resources to simulate real-world clinical scenarios, including the interpretation of drug interactions, adverse drug reactions, and therapeutic drug monitoring. Students are trained in essential skills such as calculating drug dosages, preparing drug formulations, and evaluating case-based prescriptions. The lab promotes the safe and effective use of medicines, aligning with current clinical guidelines and patient care standards.

  • Facility 2

    Computer Assisted Learning (CAL)

The Computer Assisted Learning (CAL) facility in the Department of Pharmacology provides an interactive and ethical alternative to traditional experimental methods. It enables undergraduate students to simulate drug actions, visualize pharmacological responses, and perform virtual experiments through specialized software. This modern teaching approach enhances conceptual understanding, encourages self-directed learning, and eliminates the need for animal experimentation in routine practical training. CAL is an effective tool in reinforcing theoretical knowledge and fostering a deeper appreciation of pharmacological principles.
