Pathology

The Department of Pathology serves as a vital link between basic sciences and clinical medicine, offering undergraduate students comprehensive knowledge of disease mechanisms, tissue changes, and laboratory diagnostics. The department encompasses subfields such as histopathology, hematology, and clinical pathology, supported by well-equipped laboratories and a rich collection of gross and microscopic specimens. Through practical sessions, slide discussions, and case-based learning, students gain essential diagnostic skills and a deep understanding of the structural and functional changes underlying various diseases.

Department Facilities

  • Facility 1

    Histopathology and Cytopathology Laboratory

The Histopathology and Cytopathology Laboratory is an integral part of the Department of Pathology, providing students with essential practical exposure to the microscopic study of tissues and cells. Equipped with advanced microscopes, microtomes, and staining facilities, the lab enables students to observe and analyze pathological changes in various organs. Through the examination of histological slides and cytological smears, students gain hands-on experience in identifying normal and abnormal cellular patterns, laying a strong foundation for diagnostic pathology and clinical decision-making.

  • Facility 2

    Clinical Pathology and Hematology Laboratory

The Clinical Pathology and Hematology Laboratory provides comprehensive practical training in the analysis of blood, urine, and other body fluids. It is well-equipped with microscopes, centrifuges, hemocytometers, and automated analyzers to support hands-on learning. Students are trained in essential procedures such as blood cell counting, peripheral smear examination, hemoglobin estimation, urine analysis, and detection of abnormalities. These practical skills are crucial for understanding the pathological basis of diseases and form an important foundation for clinical diagnostics and patient care.

  • Facility 3

    Demonstration Room

The Demonstration Room is a key teaching space designed to facilitate interactive learning sessions for students. Equipped with audio-visual aids, anatomical charts, and seating arrangements for small to medium-sized groups, it provides an ideal environment for faculty to conduct detailed demonstrations and discussions. These rooms are used for case presentations, practical orientations, and theoretical briefings prior to lab work or clinical exposure. The setting encourages student engagement, clarification of concepts, and fosters a deeper understanding of the subject matter.

  • Facility 4

    Pathology Museum

The Pathology Museum serves as an essential educational resource within the Department of Pathology. It houses a vast collection of preserved specimens, pathological models, charts, and photographs that illustrate a wide range of disease conditions. Designed to supplement theoretical learning, the museum offers students the opportunity to visually study the gross and microscopic features of various pathological conditions. With systematic categorization and clear labeling, the exhibits help reinforce diagnostic concepts and deepen understanding of human disease processes. It also serves as a valuable tool for faculty to conduct guided teaching sessions and case-based discussions.
